Bay City Public Schools rolls out GPS app for parents to track their kids’ school bus

BAY CITY, Mich. – Bay City Public Schools (MI) is launching an app for parents and guardians that will allow for accurate, real-time tracking of their children’s school buses.

The school district says the app is secured so only authorized users will have access to the school bus information.

The Stopfinder application was created by the district’s routing software company, Transfinder.

It is free to parents and guardians and allows users to customize when they receive alerts about their children’s bus location. The app is also a two-way communication tool, providing parents with an easy way to communicate quickly with district transportation officials and receive instant notifications.

The app will fully launch at the start of the 2024-25 school year.

“We are pleased to offer this service to families in our district,” said Bobbie Wolicki, BCPS transportation director. “We believe Stopfinder will play a critical role in reducing anxiety because parents will be kept up to date in an instant and can ask questions directly to the transportation office. It helps our office become even more efficient and responsive.”

Bay City Public Schools is in the process of sending invitations for parents and guardians to register. They can download the app by searching for “Stopfinder” on Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

“Stopfinder was created with a lot of care by parents for parents,” said Transfinder President and CEO Antonio Civitella. “Just like with everything else concerning student transportation, we had to get this right. The expectations parents have are understandably high. We believe Stopfinder will give parents and guardians the peace of mind they crave – knowing that their children are where they are supposed to be.”
