StopFinder started in January of 2008, when Leticia called up her friends Cory and Debo and said “Let’s build something awesome!” Cory had the initial idea of helping people park and move around in Toronto. Debo was newly returned to the area, and he was sufficiently frustrated with the dearth of transit and parking information out there that he was quick to sign on.
So who are these characters, exactly?
Leticia Kwok is an entrepreneur and our friendly neighbourhood StopFinder community lead. She is the self-proclaimed “tea-girl” of the team, because you’ll always find her sipping tea. (A Starbucks venti iced green tea please!) She hopes StopFinder will help people overcome their anxiety of going into downtown Toronto due to not knowing where to park or how to get around on the TTC — just as it has helped her.
Cory Wong is a marketing/creative guy and an optimistic dreamer. He is perhaps naive at times, and no one can stop him from running in the direction he wants to go except himself (i.e.: to Burger King on Wednesdays).
Michael (Debo) DiBernardo is a software engineer and doer-of-things who likes colliding with solid-looking objects to see if they’ll fall over. He has lived in Ontario, British Columbia, and California, and wants to make it as easy to navigate Toronto as it was to move around in some of those other places. His maintains a personal blog at http://mikedebo.ca.
The StopFinder team is occasionally assisted by the living CSS and web standards omnibus that identifies itself as Nicholas Presta.
